Every month I receive an email that lists donations to the Presbyterian Outlook. I look forward to reading this email because it reminds me of the depth and breadth of the support we receive from across the country. Each gift from $1-$5000 brings me a sense of joy and deep thanksgiving. I pray through the list, giving thanks to God for the gifts that keep our ministry going, yes, but even more for the people of faith who value our work of building, in the words of Walter Bruggemann, an evangelical infrastructure. Given the increasingly dangerous and divisive rhetoric prevalent in our culture, our mission of sharing the gospel narrative and equipping others to do so feels daily more urgent.
Knowing that you support our ministry encourages us to persist despite challenges and limited resources. Your dedication to our cause never fails to stop me in my tracks and remind me of the importance of what we do and the trust we’ve been given to do it well. I am profoundly grateful for the gift of stewarding this 200-year-old publication and ever mindful of the responsibility of doing so prayerfully.
I want to invite you to consider an end-of-year gift to the Outlook. Any amount helps us share the Good News of Jesus Christ with those who in turn share that lifesaving Good News with others. Our words reflect our worldview. What we say shapes our character and subsequently forms our life together. My prayerful, audacious hope is that everything we print, post and publish builds up the Body for the sake of God’s beloved world.
Thank you for your support, your encouragement, your prayers and your ministry.
Grace and peace,
Editor, the Presbyterian Outlook
